There were plenty of reasons for Kirk Ferentz and Iowa to celebrate on Friday.

The Hawkeyes posted a 31-28 win over Nebraska to close out the regular season. It was the team’s fourth straight victory in the rivalry game. Senior kicker Miguel Recinos converted on the game-winning kick on Senior Day. Iowa finished the year with eight wins.

Oh, and Ferentz earned a $500,000 bonus with the victory. So yeah, he probably didn’t mind getting headbutted by quarterback Nate Stanley after the game too much, even if it did leave his face a little bloody.

In Ferentz’s contract, it states the head coach is awarded a bonus of $500,000 if Iowa wins eight games or more. With the win, the Hawkeyes improve to 8-4 on the season.

Yeah, Ferentz’s agent is pretty darn good.

The bonus probably wasn’t a major concern for Ferentz throughout the game. But when it’ll probably leave a smile on his face when he receives that next paycheck.
