Iowa will reportedly be playing the premier program of the ACC next college basketball season.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported on Friday that the Hawkeyes will play Duke in the Jimmy V Classic. The game will be played at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Dec. 6. It is one of a double-header for the game.

Texas is the third team scheduled to play in the event but its opponent has not been named, per Rothstein.

Iowa is coming off a 26-10 season in 2021-22, winning a B1G Tournament title. The Hawkeyes also earned a third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The Hawkeyes also received good news earlier this week. Forward Kris Murray decided to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft and will return for the upcoming season. The 6-foot-8 rising junior for the Hawkeyes. Last year, he averaged 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 47.9% from the floor. He reached a double-figure scoring total in 16 contests and scored a season-high 29 points in a win over Indiana.

Duke finished with a 32-7 record last year, making a trip to the Final Four. The Blue Devils are going through a coaching change after Mike Krzyzewski stepped down at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Jon Scheyer will be entering his first season as the head coach for Duke.
