The official Twitter account of Iowa Football had its social media privileges revoked over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Hawkeye Football Twitter account was suspended, meaning people could not access the account nor could the social media team send out any posts. According to a report from the Des Moines Register, music infringement issues caused the suspension.

“Two University of Iowa Athletics Department official twitter accounts have been suspended due to music copyright infringement in a limited number of posts in 2018,” Roe told the Des Moines Register. “We are in the process of working with Twitter to resolve the issues and to ensure future posts are in compliance, and as a result, one of the accounts has been reactivated. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support of the UI Athletics Department social media accounts.”

Iowa wasn’t the only program having a bout with Twitter over the weekend. Rival Iowa State also found itself on the wrong side of social media, having its account suspended, as well.

Apparently this wasn’t the best weekend to be on social media for anyone in the state of Iowa.
