Jake Gervase is working towards becoming a valued member of an NFL roster.

Gervase joined the Los Angeles Rams as a undrafted free agent after going unselected in the 2019 NFL Draft in April. The former Iowa star is already producing at a high level during the NFL preseason, though.

In his first game, Gervase registered five tackles, three of which were solo stops. On Saturday, as the Rams took on the Dallas Cowboys, he recovered his first fumble in an NFL uniform.

During a punt return, a Cowboys return man failed to secure the football, leaving players scrambling to pounce on the loose ball. Gervase sniffed it out, and came away with the turnover.

That’s his first turnover recovery in the NFL. Gervase finished the day with two tackles, which included a solo stop.

Unfortunately, Gervase’s fumble recovery wasn’t quite enough to secure a victory, as the Cowboys posted a 14-10 win over the Rams. Los Angeles is now 0-2 in preseason action.

Gervase sure is making a case for himself for a roster spot through two games, though.
