Maryland misses golden opportunity at points with disastrous finish to first half

Maryland has gone toe-to-toe with Ohio State throughout Week 6 and enters halftime with a 10-all tie. Unfortunately, the Terrapins butchered the end of the first half and missed out on a perfect opportunity to take the lead.
Taulia Tagovailoa and the Maryland offense capitalized on some great field position throughout the first half and took a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. Ohio State answered back with a pick-6 by Josh Proctor and a pair of electric Marvin Harrison Jr. catches to set up a game-tying field goal.
After Ohio State tied the game, Maryland got the ball back with 1:32 left on the clock. The Terrapins executed a great 2-minute drive to get into Ohio State’s territory, including a massive penalty on the defense.
On 3rd-and-10, Tagovailoa completed a short pass to try and get the Terrapins a bit more range for the field goal try. However, Ohio State’s Mike Hall Jr. was flagged for roughing, and that 15-yard penalty sent Maryland all the way to the 18-yard line.
With 12 seconds left, Maryld was well within field goal range but elected to call one final play. Unfortunately, Tagovailoa threw a pass short of the sticks and across the middle of the field.
The pass was complete to Antwain Littleton II but he was brought down inbounds as the clock ran out. Instead of a go-ahead field goal try, the teams head to the locker room tied at 10-apiece, and that is the kind of blunder that could haunt Maryland late in the game.
