Maryland quarterback Kasim Hill will have his season cut short for a second straight year after suffering from another ACL injury.

On Tuesday, Terrapins interim head coach Matt Canada confirmed that Hill tore his left ACL and will miss the remainder of the season. Last season, the quarterback tore his right ACL.

Hill has played in all 10 games for Maryland this season.

Last season, Hill’s injury came much earlier in the year. He appeared in just three games before being sidelined with the ACL tear.

This year, Hill had thrown for 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns while completing 49.4 percent of his passes for the Terrapins. He guided the team to a 5-5 record, which included a 34-29 win over Texas in the season opener.

Maryland will no revert to Tyrrell Pigrome, who has played in nine games this fall, though it’s come sparingly. He’s been used more effectively as a runner, throwing just 31 passes on the year.

In his nine appearance, Pigrome has completed 17-of-31 passes for 195 yards with one touchdown and an interception. He’s rushed for 166 yards and a score as well.

Pigrome came in for Hill following the injury during last Saturday’s matchup with Indiana. He completed 10-of-13 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. He also had 19 yards on eight carries.

The Terrapins fell 34-32 to the Hoosiers.

Pigrome will likely be the starter in Maryland’s final two games against Ohio State and Penn State. The Terps need to win at least one of those to earn a bowl bid.
