Mike Locksley speaks highly of Iowa ahead of Friday night showdown
It’ll be a major conference clash between undefeated opponents on Friday night when Maryland hosts No. 5 Iowa.
In his press conference on Sept. 29, Maryland coach Mike Locksley was effusive in his praise for Iowa, particularly its defense and rushing offense.

Iowa running back Tyler Goodson has rushed for 364 yards and five touchdowns this season, sparking comments from his position coach about his pro prospects. The dominant Iowa defense hasn’t allowed over 17 points this season. Jack Campbell leads Iowa in tackles (43) and Matt Hankins is tops for the Hawkeyes in interceptions (2).
Maryland is coming off a 37-16 victory vs. visiting Kent State. Iowa most recently defeated Colorado State 24-14.
Maryland-Iowa is slated for Oct. 1 (8 p.m. EST) and will be televised on FS1. Maryland will sport special helmet decals for mental health awareness for the primetime matchup.
