Jake Funk was quickly picked up by another NFL team after getting waived by the L.A. Rams on Wednesday. He is now a member of the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Funk was available after clearing waivers, sources told Rapoport. There were several teams who wanted to sign Funk and he went with New Orleans.

Funk was a 7th round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Rams, where he was used mainly as a special teams player. Funk played at Maryland from 2016-2020, where he had some great moments as a Terp.

His career high in rushing yards came against Minnesota in 2020 where he had 221. Funk was also Third-Team All-B1G and a Phil Steele Second-Team All-B1G in 2020.

Funk will most likely have a similar role with the Saints’ organization. New Orleans is 2-3 after a 39-32 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.

The Saints play the Cincinnati Bengals at home in Week 6.
