A former Maryland wide receiver did not make the final cut for the Carolina Panthers’ 53-man roster ahead of the start of the 2019 season.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Panthers released wide receiver Torrey Smith before the start of the season. He played in 11 games for Carolina last season. He was teammates with another former Maryland receiver, DJ Moore.

Carolina was the fourth organization Smith has played with in his eight-year NFL career. He’s also had stops with the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.
