Saturday Tradition News: Maryland interim coach Matt Canada won’t announce starting QB for Week 1 yet

Interim coach Matt Canada has decided on a quarterback, but he isn’t sharing his decision with the media.

During Canada’s Monday presser, he said that he has decided on who the starting QB will be against Texas, but isn’t willing to announce whether it will be Tyrrell Pigrome or Kasim Hill taking the first snap for the Terrapins.

Saturday Tradition News: Texas names starting QB for season opener vs. Maryland

Tom Herman has revealed that Sam Ehlinger will be the starting quarterback for Texas in Week 1.

Ehlinger played in nine games as a freshman for the Longhorns last season, throwing for 1,915 yards and 11 touchdowns while completed 57.5 percent of his passes. He also had seven interceptions.

In addition to his passing numbers, Ehlinger was also the team’s leading rusher last season, totaling 381 yards and two touchdowns on 114 carries.

He did not play in last year’s game against Maryland.
