Former Michigan assistant and current Charlotte head coach Biff Poggi recently took the opportunity to defend his former boss.

Poggi was the associate head coach at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh from 2021-22. The coach was recently asked for his thoughts on Harbaugh’s suspension arrangement with the NCAA falling through. Poggi didn’t hold back.

“Great. It should’ve (fallen through),” said Poggi. “Over-judicious group of idiots at the NCAA. Jim’s a straight shooter. Good dude.”

Poggi is hardly the only person to voice complaints about how the NCAA has handled the Harbaugh investigation. Harbaugh and the NCAA originally reached a preliminary agreement on a 4-game suspension due to alleged recruiting violations during the COVID dead period. The NCAA has since backtracked and stated that no action will take place “until at least 2024.”

Poggi enters his first season as the head coach for the Charlotte 49ers. This will be Poggi’s first head coaching gig in the college ranks.
