Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh released a statement Thursday that stated he “expected” to be the head coach at Michigan next year.

It was a post that was supposed to be reassuring to Michigan fans wanting him back, but instead had the opposite effect. Now, that uneasiness has been validated. According to a joint report from Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Harbaugh is set to interview with the Denver Broncos this upcoming week for their vacant head coaching position.

The Broncos fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett after just 15 games this season.

Of course, Harbaugh was the head coach at San Francisco before taking the Michigan job, falling just short of winning the Super Bowl along the way. He’s been rumored back to the NFL in some extent pretty much since Year 3 at Michigan.

This could also be a monetary move for Harbaugh, as the Wolverines could fork over a contract extension to keep the coach in Ann Arbor.
