Michael Phelps doesn’t enjoy losing.

Not that you’d really be able to notice. Phelps losing in a swimming pool is one of the rarest things you’d see in sports. With 23 gold medals from Olympic competition, he’s revered as one of the all-time greatest athletes.

But this is a football website. And we’re not talking about him losing a race.

Phelps, a known Michigan fan, also doesn’t enjoy when the Wolverines lose on the gridiron. Especially to that pesky Ohio State team. So, while spending the day at a Give. Golf. Gala in Illinois hosted by Phelps and PGA star Jason Day, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg asked the “Flying Fish” what he thought about “The Spot” from last year’s tussle in Columbus?

His answer echoed how most Michigan fans still feel.

“We got screwed,” Phelps said.

Short, sweet and to the point. And it’s exactly how most fans of the maize and blue would sum up that controversial spot.

Both Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh – who was helping deliver a calf at a dairy farm earlier in the day – were both at the event. And Phelps had a few words for Meyer, as well.

Those, however, were a bit kinder.

“As hard as it is to say this, I respect your coaching, but I can’t root for you,” Phelps said.

After J.T. Barrett’s favorable spot helped the Buckeyes go on to beat the Wolverines and clinch a bid to the College Football Playoff, it probably was even harder for Phelps to share his thoughts to Meyer.

The one burning question after Phelps’ comments? Was he making this face in his home when the officials gave the Buckeyes a first down?
