Despite being a freshman, Michigan center Hunter Dickinson has had a big impact on the Wolverines this season.

Perhaps his most impressive performance of the year came on Sunday as Michigan dispatched of Ohio State 92-87 in a top-5 matchup. Dickinson scored a team-high 22 points and added nine rebounds.

“Hunter’s performance shows to me exactly what I knew from the beginning when I recruited him,” Howard told reporters after the game. “He’s a competitor. He’s not gonna back [down] or shy away from competition.”

Coming into this game, Dickinson was averaging 14.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game — not eye-popping numbers, but certainly well above average for a freshman on one of the best teams in the country.

Dickinson is carrying himself with confidence, too. After the game, he had words for Michigan’s doubters and roasted Doug Gottlieb on Twitter.

“One way or another, they’re gonna have to realize who we are and what we’re about,” Dickinson said.

Things don’t get much easier for Michigan, as its next game is at home vs. No. 11 Iowa on Thursday.
