It took awhile for Michigan’s 2021 recruiting class to pick up steam, but now the Wolverines have been able to get some commitments with a little more consistency this offseason. Jim Harbaugh won another major battle on Thursday, landing one of the best tight ends in the country.

Four-star tight end Louis Hansen announced in a video with Rivals.com on Thursday that he is verbally committed to Michigan. He becomes the fifth player to pledge to the Wolverines, and is the fourth four- or five-star player to join the class.

Hansen, a 6-foot-5, 222-pound tight end from Needham, Massachusetts is listed as one of the top 200 players in the 2021 recruiting cycle. After making his announcement, Hansen said he believes that Harbaugh and his staff are “building something special” in Ann Arbor.

Per 247Sports, Hansen is ranked as the No. 8 tight end in the 2021 recruiting class and is listed as the No. 187 player overall. He’s also considered the second-best player from his home state.

Hansen held over two dozen offers and chose Michigan over Michigan State, Iowa, Georgia, Boston College, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin, among others.

With Hansen’s commitment, Michigan’s class is now ranked 15th nationally and sixth in the B1G.
