Michigan is losing guard Isaiah Barnes to the transfer portal, according to a report.

Barnes spent the past 2 seasons with Michigan, but never carved out a role on the court for the Wolverines. On3’s Joe Tipton was 1st to report the news.

Earlier this month, Barnes received a redshirt waiver from the NCAA for the 2021-22 season. He played for just 6 minutes during that campaign. Because of the waiver, he will have 3 years of eligibility at his next program.

Barnes scored a career-high 6 points in Michigan’s loss to Kentucky earlier this season.

In 2022-23, he played in 15 games and averaged 6 minutes per contest. Listed at 6-foot-7, Barnes has great size for the guard position. He averaged over 1 rebound per game this past season.

Barnes was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2021. He was the No. 117 overall player in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He also had offers from programs like Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Kansas, Iowa and Iowa State, amongst others.
