Papa Kante, Michigan hoops commit, has versatility emphasized by high school coach
Papa Kante committed to Michigan basketball on Thursday. He chose the Wolverines over Maryland, Memphis, Rutgers, and Pittsburgh.
On3 Sports’ Clayton Sayfie shared a quote from Kante’s high school basketball coach Raphael Chillious on what he’ll be bringing to Ann Arbor. Kante is a 4-star center from the 2023 class per the 247Sports Composite.
“He just does all the things that you want to put in the mixing pot and make the win cookie with,” said Chillious.

That’s one way to put it. If Kante can live up to that hype, he should have a productive college career with the Wolverines.
Kante is Juwan Howard’s first commitment from the 2023 cycle. Michigan may not be too highly ranked among the B1G after its first commit, but it’s a good start.
Kante is the No. 14 center and the fourth-best player from his home state of Connecticut in his class per 247Sports. Coming in at 6-foot-10, 215 pounds, his size could do him some favors at the college level.
