Warde Manuel might be tired of hearing the questions, but Michigan’s AD is unlikely to get any relief until a deal is done.

That, of course, is a reference to a long-term extension for head coach Jim Harbaugh. Reports continue to swirl about Harbaugh’s potential return to the NFL, and one report indicates the head coach is likely to speak with an NFL team next week regarding one vacancy.

Shortly after Michigan’s Rose Bowl win, Manuel fielded a question about a potential extension for Harbaugh that remains unsigned. And again, during Saturday’s victory parade, Manuel received more questions from onlookers about the extension status.

Once safely at the national championship celebration, Manuel took the podium and addressed the fans. He admitted he heard the questions “about 500 times” while in the parade but stressed that he is working on getting a deal in place for Harbaugh.

“To answer the question I heard about 500 times on the parade route, I am working on getting this man a new contract, I promise you,” said Manuel.

At this point, the biggest factor is certainly whether Harbaugh wants to stay or head back to the NFL. He has certainly achieved what he set out to with Michigan, and he may have his heart set on achieving the duo of a national championship and Super Bowl title as a head coach.
