Michigan is all over Maryland early with a couple of young players providing the scoring.

Freshman Giles Jackson started the game by taking the opening kickoff to the house. He sped through Maryland’s coverage and down the sideline for a 97-yard score.

After that, fellow freshman Zach Charbonnet added to Michigan’s early lead. He punched in a short touchdown out of a wildcat formation to put the Wolverines up 14-0 early, but his score is particularly noteworthy.

According to the ABC broadcast, that was Charbonnet’s 10th rushing touchdown of the season. That marks a freshman record for Michigan.

Entering the game, Charbonnet had 531 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry. His future is definitely bright with the Wolverines.
