5-star prospect and former Michigan State commit Emoni Bates is apparently still considering the Spartans.

Bates, the consensus No. 1 overall player in the class of 2022, released a new top eight this week that includes Michigan State as well as several collegiate and professional options.

Bates is currently the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2022 according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s listed at 6-foot-8, 200 pounds and is a talented wing scorer who uses his tremendous length to shoot over defenders and get to the basket.

Bates decommitted from Michigan State back in April and, at the time, was not expected to play college basketball. That could still be the case, as Bates has the G-League Ignite program, Overtime Elite and the NBL listed as professional options.

He’s also considering Oregon, Memphis, Baylor and Miami in addition to the Spartans. He’s originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan, which is only about 75 miles from East Lansing.

Bates is one of the best high school basketball prospects in the country, regardless of class.

He scored 35 points in a game earlier this week:

There is no timetable for his final decision.
