Former Michigan State quarterback Messiah deWeaver is headed to Old Dominion to finish off his college football career.

Monday, the former Spartan made the announcement that he was headed to Old Dominion via a Twitter message. He spent the last season at East Mississippi Community College — the original “Last Chance U” — leading the Lions to a perfect 12-0 season and a junior college title.

In his lone season at East Mississippi, deWeaver threw for 1,735 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing 68 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

deWeaver was a 4-star quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. Due to the emergence of Brian Lewerke, it was unlikely that deWeaver would win the starting job in East Lansing.

He transferred from Michigan State following the 2017 season, appearing in just two career games.
