Michigan State has landed one of the top small forwards in the class of 2023.

Gehrig Normand was rated the No. 17 player at his position by 247Sports, while being slotted as the No. 5 overall player in the state of Texas. The North Richland Hills (Tex.) star had a loaded list of finalists, including Auburn, Illinois, Texas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Ultimately, it was the Spartans that won out as Normand on Tuesday committed to play collegiately for Tom Izzo on East Lansing. As you can see below, he made the announcement on his Twitter account:

The 6-foot-5, 182-pounder is the 3rd commitment of the 2023 class for the Spartans. On Jan. 6, Izzo and his staff secured a pledge from Overtime Elite point guard Jeremy Fears, the No. 7 PG in the country. Then, on Saturday, Indianapolis power forward Xavier Booker, ranked as the country’s No. 11 player at his position, revealed his own commitment.

The Spartans, who have the No. 6 class in the country, hope to add Devin Royal to the mix on Wednesday. The nation’s No. 14 small forward has Michigan State among his finalists, along with Alabama and Ohio State.
