Michigan State basketball continued to land important recruits within the last week for the 2023 recruiting class.

The Spartans received 4-star power forward Xavier Booker’s commitment on Saturday (Via 247Sports). Booker, who is from Indianapolis, was the first domino to fall in the summer for Michigan State. Booker’s commitment set up the Spartans to make another move in the Class of 2023.

When Booker made his commitment, it was more than 6 months since Jeremy Fears was the first player in the 2023 recruiting class to commit to the Spartans. Since Booker was the second recruit to commit in the class, it was time for one more recruit to tell Tom Izzo that he was ready to play in East Lansing.

The recruit who decided to join Fears and Booker was Gehrig Normand. On Tuesday, Normand committed to Michigan. Normand, a small forward, will add size to the recruiting class along with Booker. Normand is the No. 5 ranked player in Texas, which was a helpful commitment for Michigan State to secure.

With three 4-star recruits heading to Michigan State in 2023, the Spartans are up to a top-5 class for the cycle. That group is currently ranked No. 4 nationally by the team recruiting rankings and is the top class in the B1G heading into the heart of August.
