The loss of wide receiver Felton Davis III was a big blow to the Spartans Saturday, and head coach Mark Dantonio updated the timetable for his recovery Sunday evening.

Unfortunately, Davis tore his Achilles in the loss to Michigan. That means he will certainly miss the rest of this season, likely ending the senior’s career with the Spartans.

While he will probably not suit up again at Michigan State, it will be interesting to see if any NFL teams takes an interest in Davis. At 6-foot-4, Davis has the size and solid hands one would want in a receiver.

On his Sunday teleconference, Dantonio confirmed that Davis will have surgery for the injury this week. That puts Davis’ recovery timetable in the window of six months or so.

Chris Solari with the Detroit Free Press shared Dantonio’s update:

It’s worth noting the 2019 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25-27. Hopefully Davis can prove he is healthy before then. Davis has 1,450 receiving yards and 14 TDs in his MSU career.
