Mel Tucker issues statement on departure of RBs coach William Peagler
Though Michigan State was able to retain head coach Mel Tucker with a large extension this season, Tucker is losing one of his assistants to Florida.
On Friday, it was announced that RB coach William Peagler is on the move, reuniting with Billy Napier in Gainesville. Peagler will coach tight ends with the Gators.
Peagler was seen as a key piece in the development of Kenneth Walker III this season and had been with Tucker since 2019 at Colorado. Now, Tucker will look for one new assistant for 2022.
After the announcement, Tucker reacted to the news on social media:
“I want to thank (William Peagler) for everything he has done for our program,” wrote Tucker. “Day in and day out he gave everything he had to this football family and I am excited to see what the future holds for him.”

Best of luck to Peagler as he moves on to his next step following the Peach Bowl.
