Mel Tucker is addressing the incident involving Michigan State and at least one member of the Michigan program following Week 9. Tucker is making it clear there is no place for such incidents in college football and vowed the Spartans will cooperate fully with the investigation.

“As Spartans our program has a responsibility to uphold the highest level of sportsmanship,” Tucker said via a statement on social media. “While emotions were very high at the conclusion of our rivalry game at Michigan Stadium, there is no excuse for behavior that puts our team or our opponents at risk.”

“In complete cooperation with law enforcement, the Big Ten Conference and MSU and UM leadership, we will evaluate the events in Ann Arbor and take swift and appropriate action.”

Shortly after the win by the Wolverines, a video from the tunnel surfaced of multiple members of the Spartans engaged in a fight with at least one Michigan player. During his postgame press conference, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said two players of his program were “assaulted” and AD Warde Manuel said the incident was being investigated.

We’ll see what becomes of this matter moving forward.
