Payton Thorne and Michigan State had a tough loss on Saturday to Washington. The Spartans are really missing having Jayden Reed in the lineup also.

Reed missed the Week 3 game with an undisclosed injury that he picked up from the Akron game the week before. Reed led the Spartans in receiving yards last season with 1,026, and also had 10 touchdowns.

Thorne is definitely missing Reed’s level of production on the field, but realizes that he has to be better at the end of the day per Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.

“Not having him out there sucks, but it’s my job to play with the guys that we have,” said Thorne. “And so I feel like we have good players, no matter who’s out there.”

It won’t get any easier for Michigan State with Minnesota coming to East Lansing on Saturday. Thorne stated that the team didn’t have too crazy of a response after losing to the Huskies, they just know they need to be better per Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News.

“Nothing too crazy different,” said Thorne. “We’ve just got to be better.”
