Powers Warren will be a little closer to his father this upcoming football season.

Sunday afternoon, Powers Warren, the son of B1G commissioner Kevin Warren, announced on Twitter that he has committed to Michigan State after entering the NCAA transfer portal. He joins the Spartans after spending his first four seasons at Mississippi State.

Powers started his career at Mississippi State in 2017 and used that first year as a redshirt season. He then appeared in six games over the next two seasons but did not see any game action during the 2020 campaign, per his player profile on HailState.com.

With the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility for all fall student-athletes during the 2020-21 season, Powers will still have two years of eligibility to use at Michigan State. He is the third former SEC player to transfer into Mel Tucker’s program recently, joining ex-Tennessee linebacker Quavaris Crouch and former Alabama defensive back Ronald Williams.

Kevin has been the commissioner of the B1G since Jan. 1, 2020 but it was announced he would replace Jim Delany in the summer of 2019. He has recently completed his first full year in the position.

Michigan State finished the 2020 season with a 2-5 record, defeating Michigan and Northwestern.
