Tre Holloman just wrapped up his junior season at Michigan State with career-high marks across the board. However, he’s reportedly heading to the transfer portal after the season ended in the Elite Eight.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported the news via Holloman’s agents. Holloman was a 4-star point guard out of Minneapolis and the top player out of Minnesota in the 2022 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite.

Holloman was used as a rotational player his first 2 seasons with the Spartans, but was limited in his overall usage behind the veteran backcourt of Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard. He would enter the starting lineup for the Spartans in November this past season, however, he later returned to a 6th man role after the breakout performance from Jase Richardson sent the freshman into the starting lineup.
Even coming off the bench, Holloman was the team’s 3rd-leading scorer at 9.1 points per game and finished 2nd with 3.7 assists per game. His efficiency did struggle this season while finishing 37% from the floor and went a brutal 0-for-10 from the floor with just 2 points in the season-ending loss to Auburn.
Holloman’s best game of the season came in the rivalry matchup vs. Michigan when he delivered 20 points as the Spartans blew out their in-state rivals for a 2nd straight time. He was also at the center of a late-game fiasco, drawing a special honor from head coach Tom Izzo after the game for standing up for MSU’s Senior Day tradition vs. the Wolverines.
We’ll see where Holloman winds up moving forward.
