Minnesota football pens letter to ESPN lobbying for College GameDay to visit in Week 11
Minnesota remained unbeaten with a dominating 52-10 victory against Maryland on Saturday. The Golden Gophers will head onto their bye week and then host undefeated Penn State a week from Saturday.
For that matchup, the Minnesota football program says it should host ESPN’s famous pregame show, College GameDay.
First, head coach P.J. Fleck made his argument for why the Golden Gophers should get to host in his postgame press conference. Next, the Minnesota program wrote a letter addressed to ESPN stating the team’s credentials for hosting the show and then posted that letter on Twitter.

In the 27-year history of the show, Minnesota has never hosted College GameDay. Even if the Golden Gophers don’t play host to College GameDay, their matchup with the Nittany Lions should be an epic one with ramifications not just in the B1G but for the College Football Playoff.
But if it’s any consolation, any neutral fan has to admit that Minneapolis is a deserving College GameDay host for Week 11. We’ll see how ESPN reacts to Fleck’s press conference and this letter.
