Minnesota earned its first B1G win with Mitch Leidner on the sidelines. If the Gophers are going to earn their first B1G winning streak in two years, it’ll be without Leidner.

The Gophers depth chart for Saturday’s game against Rutgers listed Leidner out with a concussion. It’ll mark his second missed start since taking over the starting job in 2014.

That means Conor Rhoda will get his second career start.

Rhoda wasn’t asked to do too much for the Gophers in the passing game against Maryland. He completed 7 of 15 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown in the 31-10 road victory.

Minnesota was dominant with its running game. Rodney Smith and Shannon Brooks combined for 257 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns. The Gophers are taking on a Rutgers defense that ranks 117th in scoring.

And while Minnesota is starting a backup QB, Rutgers also announced a quarterback change for Saturday’s game. The Gophers will face Gio Rescigno, who will make his first career start.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT in Minneapolis.
