Rashod Bateman is off to a blazing start to begin his Minnesota career.
The impressive wide receiver put up over 700 yards as a freshman in 2018, and he has picked up right where he left off to start 2019. Bateman had a particularly huge day against Purdue and put up 177 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

With that performance, Bateman officially went over the 1,000 yards receiving mark for his career. Eclipsing the mark in just his 17th career game makes Bateman the second-fastest player in school history to hit the mark.
Minnesota Football shared news of Bateman’s accomplishment:

He had 6 catches for a career-high 177 yards and 2 TDs yesterday. He now has a catch in 17 straight games and went over the 1,000 career receiving mark (2nd fastest Gopher to ever do it.) #Gophers #SkiUMah #RTB pic.twitter.com/qsGBvbjSRM

Minnesota has quietly put together an impressive group of wide receivers under PJ Fleck. Bateman has proven to be the perfect complement to Tyler Johnson with Chris Autman-Bell also playing well for the Gophers.
