P.J. Fleck could accomplish something at Minnesota that hasn't happened in more than 100 years
Now this would be one heck of a streak to break!
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are off to a 2-0 start under P.J. Fleck after a dramatic win over Fresno State. The Gophers battled back against the Bulldogs and secured the win with a clutch interception by Antoine Winfield. It was a great early season win, and the win gives Fleck an opportunity to make a bit of history this weekend.
Minnesota will take on Miami-OH this weekend in a game where the Gophers are favored by 13 points. The team will need to stay focused to avoid any letdown, but it will be a golden opportunity for the team to make it to 3-0.
According to the university, Fleck would be the first Minnesota coach since 1896-97 to begin his first two seasons with the team with a 3-0 record. The last coach to accomplish the feat was Alexander Jerrems. Fleck and the Gophers began 2017 with wins over Buffalo, Oregon State, and MTSU before finishing the year at 5-7.
Obviously a fast start is just the beginning, but Fleck certainly looks to be building something special at Minnesota. Can he lead the team to a win and a bit of history Saturday? Kickoff for the game is set for 3:30 pm EST on BTN.
The #Gophers have a chance to do something this weekend that they have not done since the 1896-97 seasons when Alexander Jerrems (pictured) was coaching. https://t.co/jCv1A69dgN#SkiUMah #RTB pic.twitter.com/09ku2nw8UX
