Transfer portal the destination for Minnesota punter
Minnesota’s special teams is taking a hit.
Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press is reporting that Minnesota backup punter Daniel Sparks has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The decision comes just a few days after the Golden Gophers held their spring game to end the 15-practice schedule.
Sparks transferred to Minnesota after spending the 2020 season at Louisiana-Monroe. He did not see any game action for the Gophers last fall, as he was behind Mark Crawford.

While at Louisiana-Monroe, Sparks appeared in all 10 games during the 20202 campaign. He averaged 44.6 yards per punt on 30 attempts. He pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line on 5 occasions.
Sparks also kicked off 33 times with 6 touchbacks with the Warhawks.
Sparks will have all four years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
