The start of the Minnesota football season is a day away. On Thursday night, the Golden Gophers will begin their 2019 journey, hoping to compete for a division title in Year 3 under P.J. Fleck.

Quarterback Tanner Morgan is entering his third season with the program, redshirting his first season before stepping on the field for the first time last fall. With Zack Annexstad out for the season, Morgan will be the guy to lead the Gopher offense.

Morgan is coming off a solid campaign from a year ago, throwing for 1,401 yards, and nine touchdowns coming in midway through the season. Now, as the guy from the get-go, Morgan has a chance to be the leader of an offense that is loaded with talent.

Recently, Morgan met with the media to talk about his personal improvement during the offseason, as well as preview the matchup against South Dakota State, a highly-ranked FCS opponent. Morgan made it pretty clear that he respects the skill the Jackrabbits will bring to TCF Bank Stadium Thursday night.
