B1G commissioner Kevin Warren has caught plenty of heat over the last month after making the announcement that the conference would postpone all fall sports without much explanation. Since that Aug. 11 decision, Warren hasn’t made himself available to questions regarding the decision.

Now, IndyCar driver Graham Rahal is voicing his frustration over the commissioner hiding from public comment. Rahal, a native of New Albany, Ohio, called out Warren for failing in a leadership role.

The IndyCar driver took his frustration to Twitter.

“The key to any leader is communication, accepting when you’re right or wrong and listening to the experts surrounding you,” Rahal said. “That’s what is so disappointing Kevin Warren. Everyone else can play while he just hides in his basement and feels no communication is acceptable.

“Also forgetting the young men and women who have dedicated their lives to these sports, these schools and families who’ve put it all on the line to get them there. They deserve a response, and a legitimate clear and concise response.”

Warren, as well as the 14 B1G presidents/chancellors have remained relatively quiet since postponing the season on Aug. 11. Very little explanation, data or reasoning has been provided, prompting outrage from players, parents and coaches.

Parents have written letters to Warren, protests have taken place in Chicago, Columbus and Ann Arbor and players have voiced their frustration on social media platforms. Yet all the commissioner has provided was the Aug. 11 interview with Big Ten Network and an “Open Letter” to the B1G community.

Everyone wants more transparency. Even one of the more popular individuals in IndyCar racing.
