Akron AD says contract settlement between Cornhuskers-Zips is in hands of lawyers
Can’t we all just get along?
If it weren’t for disastrous weather in Week 1, we wouldn’t be having this issue. But, here we are.
Thanks to the weather, Nebraska-Akron scheduled for Week 1 was not just postponed, but cancelled entirely. Nebraska on Thursday found an opponent to replace Akron — that being Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 27.
The Huskers were supposed to pay the Zips for traveling to Lincoln to take on Nebraska. This typically happens early in the season when a big-name program invites a smaller school to play a football game.
Apparently, the two sides aren’t in complete agreement about all the details. It’s especially more difficult since the game didn’t actually happen. It was also reported that Nebraska tried to get Akron to play the following day, but the Zips declined for multiple reasons — one being hotel accommodations.
Akron AD Larry Williams told https://t.co/ftKZizJr7t that the contract settlement between the Zips and Nebraska for the Week 1 canceled game is in the hands of lawyers now.

It isn’t up to Nebraska or Akron to decide how this will finalize. It’s in the hands of lawyers now.
