Nebraska basketball was able to add an experienced player to start July, and he is already making a strong impression with his new team.

Alonzo Verge Jr., a 6-foot-2 guard who previously played at Arizona State, recently landed with the Huskers via the transfer portal. He will have one season of eligibility at Nebraska, and his first day with the Huskers came on Monday.

Verge went right to work, turning in a highlight-reel play at one point during practice. He split two defenders while driving to the basket, drew another defender into the air, and dished a beautiful no-look dime for an easy layup.

In 51 career games (30 starts) with the Sun Devils, Verge averaged 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals. If he can consistently get to the rim like he did Monday, he will provide a nice scoring and distributing presence this season for the Huskers.
