Joel Klatt isn’t exactly making enemies before he shows up all over B1G country in 2017.

On Wednesday, the Fox Sports college football analyst tabbed Northwestern as his No. 25 team in the country. On Thursday, Klatt continued with another B1G West squad.

At No. 24, he put Nebraska.

Why is Klatt high on the Huskers in 2017? He explained.

“When Mike Riley has a quarterback that is his style of quarterback, he’s generally successful,” Klatt said.

Tulane transfer Tanner Lee already earned plenty of hype this offseason. As Klatt pointed out, he’s Riley’s first pro-style quarterback.

Speaking of Riley, Klatt offered up a vote of confidence for the third-year head coach.

“Mike Riley is in the third year of his tenure in Lincoln. That’s the year that everything transitions,” Klatt said. “You go from a coach with the majority of players that he didn’t recruit. Now it’s full of players that he did recruit. That’s gonna make this a much easier season.”

Klatt is only two teams into his top 25, and both of which are from what many national pundits believe is a weaker B1G West.

The Coaches Poll is set to be released on Thursday at noon ET. We’ll see how much it lines up with Klatt’s early top-25 entries.
