It doesn’t matter that Kade Warner is the son of former NFL great Kurt Warner, the receiver has had to earn his playing time just like everyone else.

Well, Kade Warner has put in the work and now he’s seeing the benefits. He’s listed as the starting receiver this weekend as the Huskers take on No. 16 Wisconsin.

He’s a walk-on.

Kade Warner earned saw his first action of the season last Saturday against Purdue. He also hauled in his first two receptions of the year totaling 16 yards against the Boilermakers. The Huskers lost 42-28.

Kurt Warner is the former quarterback of the St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals. He was one of nine players voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.

The younger Warner did not have any scholarship opportunities coming out of high school but chose to walk-on at Nebraska. So far, that decision has paid off.

On Tuesday night, another Huskers receiver, Tyjon Lindsey, decided to transfer out of the program.

Nebraska-Wisconsin is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Camp Randall Stadium.
