Jimari Butler has made his announcement on social media that he will stay at Nebraska and continue his career as a Cornhusker. The transfer portal window to announce, enter and leave is currently very active with plenty of players looking to leave their current program.

Butler played every game this season seeing repetitions on special teams and defense. He recorded 9 total tackles, 1.5 tackle for loss with one pass break up.

Butler drew some attention when he had a tackle for loss against historical rival Oklahoma. Against a ranked Illinois and Michigan, Butler recorded his earliest multi-tackle games.

“Thanks to all the coaches, I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to play at your school, it meant a lot but after talks with the staff here and talks with my mom, I think it’s in my best interest to stay here at the University of Nebraska,” said Butler.

Prior to 2022, Butler played in two contests and was then redshirted. A as high school recruit, he was listed as a 3-star EDGE per the 247 Sports Composite.

Nebraska fired former head coach Scott Frost, and completed the season with interim coach Mickey Joseph finishing the season with a 4-8 record. The Cornhuskers recently hired former Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule.
