Scott Frost isn’t going to lie about the recent movement by current Nebraska players to the NCAA transfer portal. He wasn’t expecting to see it during the offseason. At least not with some of the players who have opted to explore other options.

Big news surfaced from Lincoln this week, when quarterback Luke McCaffrey, wide receiver Kade Warner and offensive lineman Matt Farniok all entered their names in the transfer portal. McCaffrey and Warner made contributions to the team throughout the season and Farniok appeared in one game in 2020.

While speaking on Sports Nightly on Thursday, Frost said he was “surprised” to see some of the players enter the NCAA transfer portal this week. However, he says he “can’t spend one second,” worrying about it, according to Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald.

The news this week comes in addition to top wide receiver and versatile athlete Wan’Dale Robinson departing the program earlier this month, as well. After two seasons in Lincoln, Robinson committed to finish his college career at Kentucky.

Nebraska struggled again in 2020, finishing with a 3-5 record, giving Frost a 12-20 overall record in three seasons with the Huskers.
