Last week was a fun one around the B1G, particularly for Rutgers and Iowa.

For the Scarlet Knights, they finished off the regularly scheduled 8-game portion of the schedule with a thrilling overtime victory over Maryland. It was a remarkable effort that gave Rutgers three conference wins this season after winning three B1G games total from 2016-19.

The win was made even more impressive considering the circumstances dealt with during the week by Greg Schiano and his team.

For Iowa, the Hawkeyes won their sixth straight game this season with a victory over Wisconsin. It pushed Kirk Ferentz’s team to 6-2 and a remarkable stretch after beginning the season with back-to-back close losses.

The big story for Iowa in Week 8 was a defense that shut down the Badgers and limited them to seven points. Phil Parker’s Hawkeye defense forced two turnovers and held Wisconsin to 56 yards rushing.

On Thursday, Urban Meyer recognized both Schiano and Parker during his Coaches of the Week segment for FOX CFB. Check it out:

Should they not opt-out, Iowa will be looking for a decent bowl game next up after the Champions Week game against Michigan was canceled. Meanwhile, Schiano will lead Rutgers against Nebraska Friday with a shot to get to four wins on the season. The Knights have not won four games in a season since 2017.
