It has not always been sunshine and roses for Cornhuskers quarterback Adrian Martinez but he joined some exclusive company after this Saturday’s latest win.
Martinez is now one of just 5 players from the B1G to total 6,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards. He officially eclipsed the 2,000 yards rushing in the first half after a 71-yard scramble against Buffalo.

This list isn’t full of straight-up quarterbacks, of course. Braxton Miller was later a receiver for the Buckeyes and so was Antwaan Randel El, especially in the NFL.
So far this season, Martinez has 728 yards passing with 4 touchdowns to 0 interceptions. In that game against Buffalo, he completed 13 passes on 19 attempts for 242 yards and 2 touchdown passes. He also finished the game with 9 rushes for 112 yards.
In the week before that against Fordham, Martinez completed 17 passes on 23 attempts for 254 yards, plus a passing touchdown. He was also even better on the ground as he had 8 rushes for 33 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
We’ll have to see if Martinez can have a game like that on Sept. 18 when the Cornhuskers travel to Norman to play Oklahoma. Kickoff will be at Noon ET.
