Iowa and Maryland will now be kicking off under the lights.
On Wednesday, the B1G announced that the Hawkeyes and Terrapins will square off on Friday, Oct. 1, another Friday night contest for the conference. The game had previously been set for Saturday, Oct. 2. The two teams will meet in College Park.
This will be Maryland’s second schedule change to a Friday night game this week. On Tuesday, the B1G announced that Maryland will play Illinois on Friday, Sept. 17, a game that was moved from Saturday, Sept. 18. That game will be played in Champaign.
The B1G has made a push to play more games on Friday nights to improve exposure for the conference. While not every weekend will kickoff with a Friday night contest, there will be a handful of games throughout the season.
Iowa owns a 2-1 series lead all-time against Maryland. The Hawkeyes’ last victory was a 23-0 decision in 2018.
