CJ Stroud is honoring Dwayne Haskins Jr. with a special jersey during Ohio State’s spring game.

Haskins Jr. was the name on the back of Stroud’s No. 7 jersey during the spring game. Haskins also wore No. 7 while at Ohio State. It’s one of the many ways the Buckeyes are honoring the life and memory of the former Ohio State star.

Ohio State also held a moment of silence before the start of the game and painted the initials “DH” at the 7-yard line on the field at Ohio Stadium.

“We’re going to do a couple things to tribute for Dwayne,” Day told reporters in his Thursday press conference. “At the end of the first half, we’ll do a video for him and a moment of silence before. We’ll still have a few other things we’ll do to recognize him symbolically.

“It will be nice to have Buckeye nation together for this event on Saturday, to celebrate our team and the hard work we put in the spring but also to get everybody together to honor Dwayne, and I think that’s appropriate. It’s gonna be a lot of excitement, but also some moments in the day that’ll be deep thoughts based on our memories with Dwayne playing in that stadium.”

The Ohio State family has been mourning the tragic passing of Haskins last week. Early Saturday morning Haskins was struck by a truck on a South Florida highway. There have been tributes around OSU campus, including a recent candlelight vigil.
