With B1G basketball season underway, ESPN’s BPI following Week 2 of action is providing a lot of insight into some early non-conference results.

In total, the conference placed six teams inside the top 25 with Iowa leading the way at No. 3. That is not surprising as the Hawkeyes are 3-0 with dominant wins and huge performances from star Luka Garza.

In contrast to last week’s AP Poll that saw three teams from the conference inside the top five, just three B1G teams landed in the top 10, according to the BPI. Michigan State at No. 8 and Wisconsin at No. 10 were the other teams rated highly.

The biggest discrepancy between the AP and the BPI came in regards to Illinois. After landing at No. 6 on the latest AP Poll, the Illini came in at No. 22 on the BPI, just ahead of teams like Ohio State and Michigan.

Villanova occupied No. 1 on the BPI despite an early loss to Virginia Tech. Meanwhile, Michigan State came in at No. 3 in regards to Strength of Record (SOR), thanks in large part due to early wins over Notre Dame and Duke.

Here are the B1G teams inside the top 25:

  • No. 3 – Iowa
  • No. 8 – Michigan State
  • No. 10 – Wisconsin
  • No. 22 – Illinois
  • No. 23 – Ohio State
  • No. 24 – Michigan
