Draymond Green’s former Michigan State teammate Adreian Payne passed away after getting involved in a shooting on Monday. Green honored Payne with a kind gesture in the Golden State Warriors playoff win against the Memphis Grizzlies recently.

Green attended Michigan State from 2008 to 2012, playing with Payne during his time there. On Monday night, he wrote a message on the bottom of one of his shoes that said, “Long Live 5.” Payne wore the No.5 while he played at Michigan State. The Warriors went on to beat the Grizzlies 101-98. Green finished the game with 2 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Big Ten Network account on Twitter posted a picture of a close up on Green’s shoes showing the message he left for Payne:

Green and the Warriors now have a 3-1 lead in the series against the Grizzlies. Both teams return to FedEx Forum Wednesday for Game 5 of the series at 9:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
