“The University of Michigan Police Department has partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding the Matt Weiss unauthorized computer access incident,” the police said in an email on Thursday.
“Currently, the investigation is extensive, ongoing, and is of the utmost priority. Additional information will be provided when available.”
Weiss spent 2021-22 on Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff, first as the QBs coach and then as the co-OC and QBs coach. Following Weiss’ January firing, Sherrone Moore obtained the sole OC role.
Michigan AD Warde Manuel originally announced Weiss was fired following a review of university policies. Reports indicated Weiss was fired for cause. An obtained termination letter following Weiss’ removal cited claims of “inappropriately (accessing) the computer accounts of other individuals.”
