Fighting Illini great to grand marshal homecoming parade

U of I announced today that former NFL WR Brandon Lloyd, whose second in school history with 2,583 receiving yards, will grand marshal the university’s homecoming parade on Oct. 27.

“After retiring from the NFL, Lloyd continued his studies at Illinois and is currently three classes from graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communication,” Illinois News Bureau Director Steve Witmer wrote.
In 11 seasons in the NFL, Lloyd played for six different teams, including a short stint with the Chicago Bears in 2008. He was coached by current Illinois head coach Lovie Smith that season.
“I have so much pride in choosing to attend Illinois over other schools, and I’m honored to be the parade grand marshal,” Lloyd said in the news release. “I’m looking forward to being a part of the excitement from the student body and alumni.”
